SW Director of Retail Operations – Amfac – August 1999 – April 2002 Directed the merchandise operations in five National Parks including Brice, Zion, Death Valley, and the North Rim of the Grand Canyon and the South Rim of the Grand Canyon. Developed and administrated long range plans for seasonal changes in each respected park operation. Ensured excellence in employee relations for a diverse work force consisting of employees from various states, Native Americans and Eastern European countries. Intimate involvement in negotiating renewal of ten year contract at the South Rim of the Grand Canyon. Understood and worked with the unique differences in the many cultures that made up the employee base in the parks. Constructed multi-unit budgets on a semi-annual basis. Traveled to Denver every six months to present and receive approval from senior management for those budgets. Regional VP – Host Marriott – March 1976 – May 1997 Progressed in the organization from Merchandise Manager to Regional Vice President. Accomplishments with Host Marriott include: Developed and administered long range plans for the profitable operations of fourteen major airport operations throughout the country. Negotiated, hired staff, trained and established a new $22 million operation at the Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport. Chosen by Bill Marriott to do a turnaround of operations at the Polynesian Cultural Center in Hawaii. Implemented changes that resulted in taking the stores from a $300,000 loss to a $51,000 profit in the first eighteen months. Successfully negotiated new union contract at the Minneapolis-Saint Paul Airport Operations. Integrated “minority business partners” in our new airport lease operations. Introduced the first Starbuck shops at the Taj and Resorts Casino operations in Atlantic City, New Jersey.
